Mike's background includes ten years as co-owner and manager of a local scuba dive shop, followed by over six years as civilian project and resource manager for the Federal government.
Mike's dive shop experience began when he became a diving tour guide and instructor for Dan's Dive Shop, Inc., in Honolulu, Hawaii. After two years he and a partner bought a minority interest in the corporation, and four years later they bought out the majority stockholder. DDS became the leading water sports tour operator on the island, pioneering large group water sports activities for both eastbound and westbound travelers. After ten years in the diving industry, Mike decided to move on to greater challenges and went to work for the Federal government.
As a federal manager Mike acquired a solid background in planning, programming, budgeting, personnel management, and more. He developed significant knowledge, skills and abilities in ADP/Information Systems development, rapid prototyping, office automation and microcomputer applications, and gained extensive experience in contract negotiation, evaluation, procurement and oversight, along with project development and personnel administration. Mike shared management oversight of a $25 million operating budget, 80+ civilian and 320+ military personnel.
After six years Mike decided to quit his Federal job. He investigated business consulting and determined to utilize his business background and experiences to help others achieve success in small business - thus was born Solutions Enterprises, Inc..
Mike's formal educational credentials were earned at the University of Hawaii - Masters degree in Business Administration - Executive program, Masters degree in Political Science, Bachelors degree in English.
Mike has called Hawaii home since 1958. His wife Ellen is from Kailua, Oahu, and their two children (a son, Morgan, and daughter, Erin) are truly keiki o ka aina.
